Outdoor Shibari Workshop: Every Tree is a Hashira!

Switzerland's first! Kinbaku Studio Bern proudly presents a thorough foundation course on tying to a tree. Get ready for a big forest adventure!

Have you dreamed of being in the woods, far away from the city, enjoying a mind-blowing shibari session together with your partner? Do you want to go beyond just floor ties and classical suspensions, learn how to tie your partner to a tree properly, creating unforgettable sensations of captivity and immobilisation, enhanced by the natural sadistic flavour of the rough bark on the skin?

Let your dreams come true! We will spend a day in the forest and write the beginning of your story together. You will see how energetic and chaotic your rope can be, as wild as nature!

To make it even more exciting, we will add semi-suspension and full suspension to the experience!

All this requires solid knowledge and special techniques — you will learn them in this foundation course! We will also constantly consider safety aspects: from the potential dangers of tying on a coarse tree surface to the risks associated with restrictive ties on a tree trunk or pole. As example, fainting and how to prevent it, and many more!

At the end we celebrate the day with a small apéro with a beer or glass of wine.

Ticket price is 360 CHF per couple.

Please read the information below on this page carefully prior to bying a ticket! If you don't want to lose your money in case of sickness or transport issues — please consider purchasing an additional ticket insurance provided by the Eventfrog, when you buy the ticket. I don't cover these cases by myself.

Level of participants

Intermediate to advanced. To follow the main program comfortably, you need to be able to tie a chest harness suitable for suspension. And if you can tie a hip harness and suspend your partner using it, then you can take the full advantage of a special advanced part as well.

Tip: you may take a private lesson to boost your skills!

Time plan

• I contact you a few days before the event for the final arrangements. We'll see if the weather is fine for the course. In case of cancellation due to bad weather conditions you'll get refund 100% minus 10 CHF administrative fee.
• You arrive at 11:00 at my studio: see its location and parking possibilities.
• I take you by car to the forest, likely in two rides. If you come by your own car, it may speed up the process!
• We begin the course at 13:00. Duration about 5 hours. Soft drinks and snacks are provided. I will also give you special robust ropes to put on the tree trunk — you won't need to damage your shibari ropes.
• At the end we celebrate your achievements!
• I bring you back to my studio by car. Estimated end time is 19:30.

Bring your own

• 10-12 shibari ropes (about 8 meters long) and your rope cutting tool.
• Anti-insect spray.
• If you are allergic to insects, bring your antihistamine medications.
• A small blanket to put under the tree. The model won't stand on the ground, and you can also put your ropes there.
• Practical clothes and shoes for the breaks and picnic. The model may get chilly after an intense session!
• Nice clothes for the pictures you may want to take! Being a bit undressed is also possible, the place is hidden from view.
• You are welcome to bring food and drinks in case you need something specific or just want to share it for the picnic.

Risk disclaimer

Insurance is the responsibility of the participants!

Take care of the common risks related to a typical outdoor event in the forest. I have a first aid kit, however, think about having your own small one too!

The ties won't be too extreme, however don't overestimate yourself and listen to the teacher!

Additional information

This workshop is for couples. If less than 4 couples have registered, the workshop may be cancelled.

Language: English and German — mixed or one of the languages, depending on the group.

Role switching is not allowed in this workshop for education quality reasons.
